COB MIX

UKU Cob Mix is engineered to replicate the strength of natural clay soil, making it ideal for structural building, crafting blocks, and sculpting organic shapes or curved corners. This versatile mixture is also perfectly suited for renovating earthen buildings and constructing durable clay floors.

The word COB originates from an old English term meaning “piece” or “loaf.”

UKU Cob Mix is a traditional structural blend of clay and sand, engineered to replicate the strength of natural earth. For added reinforcement, straw (up to 20 cm) can be mixed in during the application process. This versatile mixture is ideal for building load-bearing walls, sculpting organic shapes, constructing clay floors, or renovating historic earthen buildings.

Note: For optimal consistency, the mix can be prepared using traditional foot-tamping or specialized mixing machinery.

Cob mix is a strong building material, and houses built from it can last for millennia. The oldest known house built in the Cob style is 10,000 years old.
